University Year 3

ISTD: mutton quad

My brief was to create a concept for the branding of a typography themed restaurant. I researched into restaurants, different themes, typographers and corporate identities. After researching into themes I chose my favourite, Las Vegas. I looked into the showgirl world of Vegas and decided to base this as the theme of my restaurant. I designed menus, a corporate identity and some experimental typography work for my final pieces.

I have done most of my designs using the computer but have incorporated some print making and craft work into it as well. I have used the same colour code all throughout my designs so that they work as a set and also the same typefaces. I believe my branding for my restaurant would fit in well in it's location down the Las Vegas strip and would make the diners experience at my restaurant a good one!

Degree show poster, flyer & signage

This brief was to create a poster, flyer & signage design for our up and coming degree show. The degree show is an exhibition that showcases all of our work for the public to view.

D&AD BodyShop packaging design

This was a joint competition brief to create packaging for The BodyShop. Our packaging was hand made and also biodegradable. Because our packaging was made from paper that contained seeds, it could be re-used by being planted by the customer. We tried to spread the message that the product was everlasting, and made it something fun and original for the consumer to try.

RSA stamp designs

My brief was to celebrate the influence of British Fashion in a visually exciting way that would be a joy to use on post. I researched into British fashion designers and chose six of my favourites to use for my final set of stamps: Cassette Playa, Christopher Kane, John Galliano, Julien MacDonald, Jonathan Saunders and Boudicca. Instead of looking at their outfit designs I have looked into the patterns created when looking at them close up. The patterns are often forgotten when looking at the outfit as a whole, I wanted to show the attention to detail all these designers have and even when zoomed in their outfits can be a work of art. I have recreated them using different techniques of my own style and materials to match the designers style.

I have used materials such as foam, sequins, fabric and paper for my final set of stamps, I have also used different techniques such as silk painting and lazar cutting. I used the designer's logos next to the design to back the patterns up and make them recognisable to the buyer. I took colours from the pattern and incorporated them into the logo so the colours would work well together. I believe these stamps will educate buyers on British fashion, the designers involved within it, and the detail within patterns that goes into an outfit that may go un-noticed by most people.

Inez and Vinood style monograph

One of the tasks set for the monograph was to take two photos in the style of two photographers to do with our chosen subject. As 'Inez & Vinood' are fashion photographers I chose to do one of my photos in the style of one of theirs.

Photography monograph

This is another piece taken from my monograph but this time using photography. I have painted the word zero onto the models face (despite people saying I'd used photoshop!). The photograph is saying that being a 'size zero' is all she thinks about and is always on her mind.

Personal manifesto

This brief was set to portray ourselves as a person through Graphic Design. As one of my main features and what people probably notice first about me is how small I am. This is a phrase I often say to people and I backed up the quirky phrase with an illustration of myself with a peanut!

Mixed media monograph

For my final self initiated project I have chosen the subject 'size zero'. This is my mixed media piece from my monograph. I have cut size zero models out of fashion magazines and made larger clothes for them to wear from various materials. This design is saying that this is what size zero models would look like if they actually wore average sized clothes.

Experimental typography

We got set a task in class to make 2 sets of alphabets out of whatever we were given. Me and my partner were given bags of crisps and this is how it turned out!

'An apple a day keeps the doctor away' British Heart Foundation brief

This is a photograph I took to enter a competition for The British Heart Foundation. The brief was to show what the heart means to you, only using the colour red.

The heart needs to be healthy to keep you alive and is an absolute necessity to the human body. More than 12 million people a year in England and Wales die from heart disease, when eating healthily can be one of the ways to prevent it. As said in the title the apples in this photo are representing health and with them being in the shape of a heart, they are representing the British Heart Foundation also.
